digital detox

Has anyone ever tried the digital detox ? So for the people who are unaware of the term.. Guys you don’t need it then. So digital detox is  the process of staying away from the ever connectedness of web world & technology. When one is taking a digital detox, they avoid any forms of social media, facebook, instagram, twitter, etc etc and in fact refrains  from using any sort of  technological gadgets like smartphones and computers etc.

I have lately started experiencing a repulsion from the social media. I haven’t logged into my twitter account for months, have deactivated my facebook account, have not even tried to introduce myself to snapchat and have deactivated and uninstalled the instagram applications.I really enjoyed being on all these platforms though. Through facebook i met some really old friends and acquaintances , twitter had such amazing and thought provoking conversations and shares, and instagram introduced me to some unknown but like minded folks. But it was just getting too much. Social media reminded me of the great einstein and his theory of relativity. one hour seemed like just 5 minutes and i was getting lost in the fake happiness and unreal portrayal of lives. And to be honest , i was just tired of being connected all the time. I did not want to. I did not feel like sharing my life with people , majority of whom to not give a s**t about it.

And some of these connecting tools had in past brought major major issues in my life. Will share about it some time later. But these gave me enough reason to cut down heavily on the amount of time i was spending on being social. As such also, if y0ou go by my family, i am the most anti social person on the planet. Not that i am complaining. I secretly kind of like it that ways. Only exception being my blog world. I love this space and being here is liberating. But for other mediums, i am on a detox spree.

Ofcourse this isn’t really a detox, as i continue to use my laptop and my smart phone.  kya kare.. Laptop is my bread and butter after all. But but but… I have planned myself a detox , a total detox away from all gadgets by end of this month. I am so looking  forward to that one whole week of not having phones or laptops, and no connectivity.

Someone who thinks too much, has opinions about almost everything on face of this earth, a bit disoriented from the usual & normal way of living , and overtly disconnected from the mainstream. A voracious reader, food lover, and a movie buff with creative streaks here and there.
